Since 1990, Sarah has been conducting the National Australia Bank Quarterly Business survey looking at economic and business conditions. It is generally considered one of the best economic predictors in Australia.
We maintain our own panel of businesses for the research. The panel must retain its State and industry representativeness to ensure the survey adequately reflects the current economic conditions experienced by industry. In 1998, we moved from a quarterly survey to monthly surveys, and in 2006, it was extended to include a small business survey. In 2014, a separate Australian property survey was added to the mix. During this time, all deadlines have been met consistently and the panel continues to reflect and provide accurate readings of the business environment in Australia.
The challenges of the post-COVID environment have stressed the importance of the surveys to understanding business conditions and confidence for policy makers and individual businesses alike.
